We went on holiday last week and my mum minded Sooty. When we brought her home she stopped eating, then stopped pooping (due to not eating I'm guessing) and now she is limping whenever she tries to walk.
She has just been sitting in a hunched position for the past day or two in her cage not doing much. But the weird thing is, before we noticed this, on monday, we put her outside and she was running around outside on the grass for a few hours.
We have give her olive oil through a syringe in case it is constipation and also massaged her stomach in warm water.
Since this morning, she now squeals every time we try to touch around her stomach.
Any idea what this can be? The vet opens in 30 minutes so we are making an appointment as soon as it opens.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but does anyone have any ideas?
I forgot to mention how long she hasn't pooped for, which is now about 24 hours.

It sounds like something potentially serious is going on. She needs to see a vet ASAP

Agree with the others - vets intervention is the only answer.
Maybe the outing on the grass has caused a bit of bloat or upset her stomach. We haven't put ours out yet to 'graze' but will make certain they don't go crazy and over indulge, small and often is my option.
Please let us know how she gets on and send hugs x>>

Could this be scurvy anyone? (lack of vitamin C)

As others have said, vet visit is best option, hope she will be ok.

Maybe she enjoyed staying with granny so much she is now protesting lol. xx

Thanks for the replies :)
Just been to the vet and it is her kidneys. Possible kidney failure. He gave her an injection as she needs to get rid of a lot of water. As soon as I brought her home she had a wee and did quite a few poops. Hopefully this is a good sign.
I also have tablets to give her once a day.
If these do not work I unfortunately have to take her back to the vets on monday and it is most likely that she will have to get put to sleep :(

The vet gave her a 3/10 chance of getting through it..

Aww poor piggy :(

You did the right thing in taking her to the vet, and giving her a chance :)

Hope things go well for you and her. My boys send wheeks and nose snuffles

I am so sorry for the diagnosis and am keeping my fingers firmly crossed!

Thanks a lot :)
This may sound harsh but I don't know if I should get her put to sleep. All she is doing is sitting in the same position all day and looking uncomfortable. The vet said if it's her kidneys, it's most likely going to get worse anyway, so I don't know what's best for her.
My son will be upset but I want to do the right thing? Any help is appreciated! :(

I think the best thing is following the vets advice, if she is uncomfortable and isn;t going to get better, unfortunately it may be the kindest thing to do, however i really hope this is not thecase, i would contact the vet and ask their advice, you will know in your heart what is best for her, hugs and heeling vibes xx

Aw I'm so sorry - what an awful situation to be in :0
If she's in pain, I think I would consider the option of letting her go to the bridge but it's easier for me to say that :(
When my boy was writhing in pain, I was distraught and willed him to go in his sleep as I (selfishly) couldn't bear to see him like that but did have the option of further tests which I'm sooo grateful for.
Hope whatever you decide, it is the best for her, again I'm sorry to hear your sad news :(

Thanks for your support. You may have seen my other post where I said that we have decided to let her go. It was really hard to do but she is getting put to sleep very shortly. We are so upset but we believe its the right thing to do.
Thanks again for all of your support, you've been great :(
