My 3 year old guinea girl Holly, seems to be eating but not huge amounts, and not like she used to, how can I tempt her, she is full of energy, running around on the floor when I clean the cage out.
Any advice would be gratefully received

The best thing to do is to take her to the vet for a full check up. It could be anything such as a problem with her teeth and it is best a professional checks her.

Please book her in at preferably piggy savvy exotics vet.

Loss of appetite can have many reasons, but back teeth (molar) spurs are one of the main ones.

Please weigh any guinea pig that has a potential health problem daily, as opposed to a weekly weigh-in for a healthy guinea pig. That gives you a better picture of the true food intake and alerts to you to problems early.

If necessary, you need to hand feed a piggy that is not eating properly. Your care is as important as the vet treatment itself and can make all the difference. The sooner you have a piggy treated the better the chances of a good and quick recovery.
Mushed up pellets are OK for hand feeding. The normal amount to keep up a piggy's weight that is not eating is 120ml over the course of 24 hours; ideally little but often. Also syringe water to keep your piggy hydrated if necessary.

Best of luck and please keep us updated.

She saw the vet at end of August, as out of sorts, had an antibiotic injection, just to cover in case of infection, the other guinea girl has put on a huge amount of weight, so have been hand feeding Holly dandilions and veggies, will try and look at her teeth,

omg ...poor sweetheart.......do you have any pictures of her ?...........so hard to understand if guinea pig not eating you have to feed her manually .Find a proper vet. If you not able to do it do not keep them and tell your friends.

But recently we got 5 day course of septrin from not good vet.Visited may be best specialist in uk.Peace full situation. After 5 days of septrin GP stop eating completely.(before eats fine)My wife know what to do and biolapis + pineapple juice + activated charcoal + recovery mix 2 days/3 times of day bring her back to this world.
Vet didn't tell what to do in case of emergency. But we are experienced. What about normal people who got gp by mistake ?
