I have two piggies and one (Mint) of them is very active and likes running around the house and up the stairs and he is quite skinny we think because of how active he is. My other piggie who is called Basil is the one I'm worried about.. He runs about in his house and in the run... I don't think its about me coz when he's sitting on me he will run all over me and climb on me and yup but when i put him down on the floor he doesnt move he just sits there... he will climb up the stairs with some encouragement but when he gets to the top he will just stop moving... its quite odd... I've had these two piggies for 6 months now...

Some piggies take longer then others to get used to thier enviroment, my one piggy still runs away from me and ive had hime for 5 years, Basil is just gonna take more time dont give up just keep trying, try coaxing him with treats is thier any veggies or fruits he likes a lot use those, love the names btw:luv::wub:

It could be that the open space overwhelms him somewhat and he doesn't feel confident enough to explore just yet. I have a couple of piggies who freeze when there is no where for them to hide whilst other will quite happily bumble about in the open. I tend to put tunnels/boxes/low stools out during floor time and I dot them about, they will then bolt from one to another and only explore whilst in range of a hidey. Might be worth putting a few out for them? :)

Piggies are very wary of open spaces; they prey animal instincts run deep. Offer him a nearby base where he can feel safe and which he can use to explore any new and potantially dangerous territory from. A stool, a cardboard box, anything that provides a modicum of shelter to make him feel less exposed will do. Piggies can see sharply only about 1-2 feet, after that, they are primed to react to sudden movements.

Thanks for the help guys! I just find it quite odd how different my piggies are sometimes :P
