Guinea Pig on its Back

I picked my guinea pig up and put it down back in its cage and accedently placed her on her back. she squirmed and i got really scared. she got back up but i just wanted to see if there was anything we could do. we DONT think you should put a guinea pig on its back..

Please never put a piggy flat on its back!

The head should always be above the lungs and the heart, otherwise the strain on the heart is too great.

Young piggies can usually right themselves fairly easily with some wriggling, but older piggies (who are also generally more at risk of falling over/being pushed over due to arthrities, weaker/wobbly legs) may not be able to get back up and can die as a result if they are not found quickly enough.

I know.. i feel so bad! i diddnt try to but it still is my fault and i feel terrable!
