It's getting to the time of year again for our rabbit and piggy open day. We are looking for some new ideas and are just wondering what you would like to see.

Also if anyone wants to come and help on the day, or help us with the organising please let us know. We are always grateful of any help.

eta. it is on the 10th September so not long

I'm at a festival that weekend so won't be able to help but have fun and please post some pics of the day!

Is that a Saturday?

I should be able to help. What needs doing?

We need people to man the stalls, speak to people about guinea pigs and bunnies, to keep an eye on the animals that are there etc.

At the minute we would like to know what people would like to see at this type of event?

Gutted I cant make this either I'm in Ireland.

Not sure what you have there already, but what about a stand all about guinea care - sexing, housing, feeding, health etc...

Where is the event being held? Sorry, I'm a bit of a newbie here.... rolleyes

Oh wow! You're from Walsall? You're the first person on here I've seen from the Midlands :)

It is at Aldridge Community Centre.

Yep I am from Walsall, there are quite a few of us on here.

I foster piggies and bunnies for Walsall RSPCA, as well as doing fundraising and homevisits for them.

Welcome to the forum

Yep defo something educational on care etc, I'd be than willing to do that and mill about talking to people, I do it for a job anyway lol! Maybe get some kind of raffle on the go? I could get some bits to win probably, my friend makes hand made bath products , as an idea for a prize for example, she could do a gift basket, just a thought.

we are too far away to come! but if we were, we would like to see examples of c&c cages, and to see it being put forward that guinea pigs should be kept indoors, (with access to outside on nice days), as i think far too many people still think it is ok for them to be outside. also to make people aware they are NOT just a childs pet, they make fantastic pets for all ages! hth

Just updating this thread as it is our open day this Saturday (2.30 - 4.30).

We have lots of free samples, brand name food, hays and treats at low prices. Lots of advice and information will be available.

Our vet Sally Potter will be there on the day to answer any questions.

We will also be taking some of the rabbits and guinea pigs available for adoption.

plus a special guest appearance by none other than DANNY PIG !

It would be lovely to see some of you on the day, address is Aldridge Community Centre, WS9 8AN.

If anyone wants to help please send me a quick pm. :)

I'd love to come but with teaching on Saturdays I fear I wouldn't make it until late in the afternoon!

I think a lot of the ideas already proposed for stalls are pretty good - what is suitable accomodation and how you should care for a guinea pig appropriately plus every one loves to see cute furries. I think a lot of people also think you don't get anything back from a rabbit or guinea pig but my pigs are highly sociable. They love to squeel at me and they are always waiting at their cage bars for me, they are really lovely pets for people of all ages.
