George has been a very brave pig today. He went in for surgery to have a tumour removed.

He got through OK, though noticeable affected by anaesthetic and possibly shock.

This evening, he's sat quietly eating his salad and his friend Bungle is looking after him.

Awww poor George, although it's clear that Bungle will take really good care of him. Wishing him the best recovery ever

It usually takes them a day or 2 to recover - nothing some favourite veggies can't cure.

Thank you both.

It was good to see George straight back in to his lettuce, soon after we got home.

He seems to have coped really well, despite his normally nervous temperament.

He's going back for a checkup tomorrow.

Hope he gets better soon. Does he have pain relief for at home for the next few days or so like Metacam? If not make sure you speak to the vet regarding some tomorrow.

great news he is tucking into his food. Sending lots of healing vibes

George was asking for his breakfast this morning and his apetite was good.

He went for his vets appointment today and thankfully they also seemed happy with him.

He seems to have coped a lot better than I expected, given the surgery and size of scar. He has to have a final checkup in around 10 days.

Awesome news, thank you for sharing them! :yahoo:
Hope the next checkup goes as well as this one. Keep us updated!

Poor little guy! It can take a day or two to fully recover from anesthetic and pain killers that may be given after surgery. When Sundae had an abscess opened and drained on her jawline, she was VERY out of it when we brought her home. Apparently the abscess went right down into muscle and the vet gave her a narcotic for pain control because he thought she might be uncomfortable when she woke up. I think she was groggy from the anesthesia and possibly a little bit high for the first 24 hours or so postop!

Piggies are generally much tougher than ppl. It's unlikely that you would be able to go home after tumor surgery you would likely be in the hospital at least a day or two and moping around for a while afterwards....way to go George much tougher than most patients I've had! (You meaning humans in general)
