Hi all!

My poor little Mdluli is currently at the vets having an operation to remove two skin tumours, and I am very worried :( Has anyone else had experience of their guinea's going through surgery safely?

Just need some positivity :(

Thanks!

Sorry, no experiences, however i wanted to wish you and mdluli well, i'm sure he/she will be just fine. Fingers and paws crossed here! x

my boy had an operation and survived fine, he was approx 3 1/2 at the time. (not for tumours though)

How old is Mdluli?

Good luck xx

Thanks :) She is only 2 :(
I'm just not going to be happy until I know she is safe and sound :( It was so horrible this morning, with the vets telling me all the things that could go wrong ... just horrible

Sorry no advice, just wanted to wish your piggie well.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for your Mduli!

I have only had one piggy not waking up from an op (ovarian cysts were much bigger than expected), but four who have made it through. It is always a worrying time and I HATE the anxious wait every single time; for me, it's the worst bit of the whole experience.

Here are tips for post op care: http://www.guinealynx.info/postop.html

aww it is a worrying time, a lot of us have been there and we are all the same, anxious and panic stricken.

fingers crossed for your baby xx

:)) .... I am picking her up at 5:30 from the vets this afternoon .... just needs lots of love now ... which she will get in abundance:(|)

At that age they are usually ok under anaesthetic unless very poorly.

i am new to the world of guinea pigs so havent been through anything like this but just wanted to say hope your little one feels better soon and has a quick recovery xx

I cannot believe how well she has bounced back! Poor little mite has both sides shaved with stitches down both sides, but she is her normal, inquisitive and cheeky self xx>>>

I am taking her back on sat for a check up and next week I find out if the tumours were cancerous (so I know to keep and eye out in future) and then it is all over (hopefully!).

Thanks all for your kind words :)
