I'm looking at getting a pair of guinea pigs, I used to have them when I was younger and loved them.
My daughter is at the age where she wants pets of her own and likes the look of guinea pigs.
I know I'll be doing most of the dirty work as it were but don't mind as guinea pigs are lovely :)

Where would you suggest to get them?
I'm wary of buying from Petsathome etc woud you agree with that?
I was wondering about rescue centres or possibly looking for a breeder but how would I know if the breeder is reputable?

Most people probably think it's only a guinea pig/s but I want to do it properly and have healthy pets :)

Thanks in advance x

Thanks for that :)
Will have a look, do rescue centres mind the guinea pigs living at homes that have children do you know?
I'd love to be able to help re-home a couple of guinea pigs if possible x

have a look, some say these piggies are good with kids or are better with adults. it depends on the piggy usually!

Welcome and well done for considering rescue!
I think as long as the rescue is happy that you are the main carer etc for the guineas, there wont be a problem with children. You come across as a sensible person and that is what they look for as well as the right sized hutch (if outside, has to be in a heated shed) or a good sized cage indoors with extra exercise. Keep us posted, hope you get 2 gorgeous guineas soon!

Thanks for the replies :)
We would be looking at keeping them inside we are doing some building work at the moment but once that's finished may/june time we'll be ready :)
I used to keep mine inside when I was younger and used to love it.
What is the minimum sized indoor cage for 2 guinea pigs?
I've seen the Nero 4 and that looks lovely and spacious?
What would you recommend?
Sorry for all the questions! :)

We're in Norwich so not too far from you. We have six lovely baby guinea pigs born only yesterday that *** eventually need a new home.

nero 4 is smallest you should have don't go any smaller. I have one and I love it the base is very easy to clean as it is all one piece and bends round so no corners for muck to get stuck in. I have a stand as well which makes it easier still as no bending down when cleaning & piggies like to be high up too! good luck!

If you look on www.guineapig-rehoming-norfolk.co.uk on Sophies available page she has lots for re-homing at the moment she is based in harleston but piggies can come to me just outside norwich if necessary as part of a journey and sophie works not far from yarmouth. :)

No not sad at all! I get excited when I buy them treats etc.. (maybe that is a little sad but love seeing them enjoying themselves!
