Heyo guys i have two new piggos (the past two passed) and one drags his hind legs, my girl is chirping, breathing hard, and losing A LOT of fur. We seperated the two and ima treat them for mites any other suggestions i can do so i dont lose these two babies..? I seriously have no clue what I'm foing wrong but I really hate myself for having them get sick ☹️☹️

You need to take her to the vet urgently, if she is breathing like that it sounds serious :( I am assuming the boy is neutered? How did your previous piggies die?

Hi and welcome

Your guinea pigs need to see a vet urgently. Back leg paralysis is a serious condition, as is hard breathing (an untreated respiratory infection can kill!) and massive hair loss.
List Of Life And Death Out-of-hours Emergencies

I sincerely hope that one of your piggies is de-sexed? Otherwise please separate them asap. Boars can make babies from 3-5 weeks onwards and sow can get pregnant from 4-6 weeks onwards. Every fifth birth ends with the death of babies and/or mom.

Please do not not treat on spec with low dosed broad spectrum shop products that will only suppress but not cure mites. Be aware that fungal skin infections and malnutrition can cause the same symptoms, but need entirely different treatment. We do not recommend home treatment on spec because it can do more damage and cause more suffering than it may help.

If your guinea pigs are shop bought, then you can reclaim any vet cost from your pet shop by presenting the vet bill together with your sales receipt within the first 2-3 weeks after sale.
Vet cost will make the overall biggest budget post in any pet's life. Please start saving up on a weekly or monthly basis right from the start as part of their regular maintenance cost. To be free from pain and to receive care for treatable illness is one of the basic animal rights and part of responsible pet ownership.

Did you get them at a Pet Store? If you did, it may be the store’s fault, not yours. Many pet stores sell unhealthy pigs.

Is the boar neutered or the female spayed? It’s good to prevent breeding if possible. Your sow may pass away when giving birth.

Take your pigs to the vet! Hair loss, dragging, and hard breathing are signs that your piggy is unhealthy!

Hey guys thanks for the feed, its not the same piggos as my other post she had died due to another stroke, my female had passed once i went out to ask a nearby vet about their conditions. The male is still alive he’s moving a bit more but ive been getting them from petsmart tbh if i lose my boy ima lose my mind because I'm trying so hard to help them ☹️

I'm not quite sure how the baby died we woke up and found her on her side she had died during night time and my older girl had 2 strokes causing her to eventually pass but we weren’t sure why this was happening ☹️

So you lost two guinea pigs and then got another two?

And they are both poorly? Have you been to a vet? If not they need a vet as an emergency, please do not wait

Well once the young pig died I thought my other guinea was gunna get lonley and depressed we waited a while to get her a new friend (3 weeks)and when janet died we got the young pig flower (the boy) because she was really attached to janet and got depressed fast. When we got the boy janet had passed for about 6ish days. And i know i need to get some money out to do that its so expensive it kills me a little too lol

Please do not put Male and female guinea pigs together. And please take whoever you’ve got left to the vets as they clearly need attention.

If you are able to save the piggies you have left (with proper veterinary care), I would suggest thoroughly disinfecting the cage (try F10) and everything in it. Also check the threads on feeding to ensure they are getting a balanced diet. I would also keep them separately so that if one has an illness, it's not going to get passed on, then, once they are all better, rebond them using the guidance on this forum.
