These are my guinea pig pet hates! Please leave yours below :D

People who don't do research first
Small cages
Pet shops that sell gps
Incorrect care
And people who bath there guinea pigs for no reason!

Hi @Chief Guinea Pig yes this topic is allowed, as it's nice sometimes to get things off your chest, although what isn't allowed is any personal jibes against any member, as like you we are a friendly lot... :luv:

Ours are not knowing where you will find your next bit of hay, usually in your socks or underwear..
Breeders passing themselves off as rescues as it's difficult enough for the reputable ones..
( that's why we have the rescue locator )
Always manage to stand on that stray nugget in your bare feet..

Lisa & Ali..

All the above but my main pet hate is the selling of metal things like hay racks and hay balls. I refuse to allow any metal in my guinea pig pens. They should be banned!

Oh I'm always finding nuggets in my shoes... Suddenly *crush* nugget powder in your shoes... :/
@Jess why don't you like metal things?@lisaali sorry didn't think about the rules on the fourm! We will be nice :D

@BPM7 reports of guinea pigs getting trapped in the hay racks and dying, this happened to one of the forum members piggies :( and also there were photos circulating Facebook of a piggie trapped in a treat ball. Want them banned along with leads for small animals.

I think I got mine from a breeder who passed her self of as a rescue! One of them had pneumonia and had to be PTS. I only found out via another rescue.

Mine is being told "It's only a guinea pig..." or being the butt end of jokes about "disposing" of them when I ended with 8 surprise babies :hb: (For reference to anyone who didn't know, both of my girls were pregnant when I bought them, umbeknownst to myself. Thor is one of the first brood!)

Unfortunately it's not uncommon, We know we are preaching to the converted, this is the main reason why the forum compiled the Rescue locator and why the forum promotes reputable rescues to adopt from. Also adopting from a reputable rescue can save you a lot of money. Please see this thread - http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/...-guinea-pigs-why-you-should-go-rescue.117621/

I am also a target of this, a work colleague is always saying stuff and offering to put them to sleep for me. Also said of his girlfriend ever got a guinea pig he would drown it in the toilet. Was fuming! He's always asking about their expenses it drives me mad. Got to the point I just ignore him.

@Jess that's exactly what I get too! I have shouted at people in the past but now I just walk off and let them carry on talking to themselves before I say something that would get me in trouble :(

Best thing to do is ignore them, he talks so much nonesence that I don't even listen to him half the time and if he does ask me anything I pretend to not listen and at times I give him one word answers.

one of the things I have to admit that I dislike when having G pigs is the fact that where ever I go I always manage to find a piece of their hair haha, even sometimes when I go off to college I somehow find them in my school books! But I do love my piggys :) oh and another thing I dislike is when I see other peoples piggys and see the state of some of their cages :( the poor pigs are literally sleeping in their own poo and wee ridden bedding, tons of flies buzzing round them, they stink to high heaven and the pigs dont look to pleased either. I clean my pigs out everyday, not the whole bedding just the poo/wet stuff and food that is old, then I usually take the whole bedding out at the end of the week haha :) but yes that's what frustrates me the most, disgusting cages!

Mine is when people refer to them as hamsters and when I correct them, them saying that they're basically the same thing. Nothing against hamsters of course but they're different animals! I think my friends just like to wind me up though.

Thats the same with my neighbour, always goes 'your hamsters look huge' erm..:mal::mal:

Yes, being a typical human, I found this forum after I had adopted. Like reading the instructions after you have failed to put the flat pack together.
This rescue had been on local TV news, saying about all the abandoned piggies. I since found out, she only adopts out boars. I never got to look around, she did not take my detail either. I could have been anyone! When I was emailing to arrange adoption she was replying instantly! When I emailed to say they has settled in, she did not reply. Then Toffee pig had to be PTS because he had pneumonia, I found out that was due to the over crowded conditions at the rescue.

Find something thats close to his heart...motorbike? Car? something like that and you can have fun making jibes back. (i.e.. if my boyfriend got a car like that I'd get it scrapped....you get the gist ;-) ) It works a treat.

One of mine is struggling to find a vet who is willing to give piggies the care they deserve - so many round here are of the view that they're 'just guinea pigs'.

And the usual - piggies living horrible lives :(

Funny annoyances are finding bits of hay and occasionally poop in my bra! Tripping over a cat or dog while delivering veggies...
Everyone thinking my pigs are hamsters
Saying 'its okay, they won't pee on you' and then they open the floodgates without warning

My hates are...

1. Cleaning the cage and putting my hand in a puddle of urine... Yuck!

2. Hay getting everywhere!

3. Struggling to grow veggies for them :(

I still love them though!

Another one of mine is when I'm doing a quick clean and theres a little bit on uncovered plastic and i turn my back for a second, and they choose that exact spot to pee on!

Hi @Chief Guinea Pig
Always manage to stand on that stray nugget in your bare feet..
Lisa & Ali..

I do this all the time and it hurts like hell. Bunny pellets are bigger too.

Mine is not about the pigs themselves but the damn C and C grids, why can't they miraculously lower when I step over them, I am always tripping up or bashing my toes or foot. I only have short legs.

Mine choose to pee on my bed! Not sure if anyone has this pet hate
