Hi, we are due to get two sows the middle of December. We have a big cage for them but we also have a bigger dog pen which I thought would make a good playpen for the girls when I'm out of work. We don't have any space for the pen in the house so I was thi King we could put it the loft. The loft floor is all boarded out. We have light and electric up there but no window. It's not damp or anything but obviously a little dusty. Would this be OK for the Guinea pigs? Obviously I would bring them back down at three o'clock when I get home I just thought it would give them more space to run around. Any thoughts would be appreciated?

What are the cage measurements?
What are the playpen measurements?

I’d be concerned that there isn’t any natural light, and the temperature in the loft. Also, Piggies have sensitive and narrow airways so the dust could be a problem for them.

Its lovely to give them as much space as possible, but if their cage is big enough then you don’t need to worry too much about then being in it for longer periods during the day. Just let them have some time out of their cage when you are home - if you don’t have space for the playpen, could you perhaps piggy proof your kitchen floor for example, and let them have a couple of hours run around time in there?
