Junior Guinea Pig
So this emergency has already been dealt with. I wanted to repost it to give it a better much easier title to find/search for future forum users with the same very rare problem
my guinea pig caramilk had an anal polyp and pooped it out! it was huge! i thought for sure she was a goner but she survived with surgery! i couldnt afford much but we did the most risky one of simply lancing it, stitching it up and pushing it back inside with some anti inflamitory/painkiller medicine for 10 days. well its day 10 and she just had her final bit of medicine. she is healthy and walking around. i wanted to post this because when i searched not only was it hard to search but every result had the same end.... Rainbow Road..... my heart sank, but i risk the weeks pay to get her the surgery and it paid off! for people reading this in the future feel free to click my name. i will post on her main thread when she finally passes away, i use that thread kind of like a journal for her life. you will see how long she made it to help make your own choices.
Thing to consider that went against her survival but survived anyways!
The surgery had to be delayed almost 24 hours after it was noticed.
the vet said they weren't very experienced
we couldnt afford blood tests, x rays,
we had her set to DNR if she didn't make it in the surgery
Shes between 4.5 and 6 years old. and was found in a bush outside just eating grass that someone must of lost....
she's over weight
Things that went in her favor that really pushed my choice
She wasn't suffering. she didn't seem to be in pain or bothered at all.
She was pooping and eating and drinking despite how gruesome she looked
she was very mobile.
Gave her a "last meal" of blueberries, raspberries, parsley and guinea pig pellets that were banana and apple flavored mixed. she feasted on the vet table. plus her over night stay at the vet she was fed lettuce and herbs with timothy hay that she gobbled up. on the table just wanted the towel she was held in turned over her to make like a make shift hidie.
I was all but positive she wasn't coming home ever again BUT SHE DID! she fought her little piggy heart out and made it! if you think your piggy is suffering please dont feel bad. i would of in a heart beat if caramilk was suffering. but she just wasn't.... picture of her just before the operation. (it is graphic but i want people thinking their piggy is doomed when it isn't....)
