Guinea Pig Problems.

I've had NOTHING but issues since I got my guinea pigs, and they're really proving to be little horrid things.

Now recently, Damon has started to bite me! No reason for this AT ALL.
I was sat on my bed with him in my lap, watching tv and stroking him and he give me a right bite on my knuckle! It was totally uncalled for!

Now, I was wondering, what can I do to make him not hate me?
I have him out all the time, and he gets everything he needs.

Really not best pleased at the moment! grrrr
 
My boy Harvey nibbles me when hes in a grumpy mood, or when he doesnt want to be stroked/hugged/picked up.Artie just gives me glares (haha!) dont worry he doesnt hate you just probs woke up on the wrong side of the bed :)
 
Just not sure what is wrong with him at the moment!
And I doubt it's hormones!

how old is he? are you sure he hasnt got any skin type probs as i have seen people mention before about them biting when they are sore.
 
He's about 8 months?
And I've checked him over, and I can't see any irritation? He doesn't itch often? But I've seen him clean himself a few times?
 
Maybe he's fed up with being handled and patted, I know my Guinea Pigs aren't big fans however they do enjoy playing with each other and coming up for a pat but that really is there limit :)).
 
Firstly, recognise him as an animal, he doesn't hate you and he can't rationalise so the bite either meant he'd had enough 'love' or something else instinct wise. Maybe you stroked the wrong place and he was telling you it hurt? :) Mine go through biting states, it's like their period and their male :P
 
little fidget fudge yesterday tried to bite me when I was cuddling her, so I took the opportunity to turn it into a teeth check - that'll teach her :)) She can be a right moo when she wants to, her only excuse is she is young, but she certainly cannot be using her teeth to get her own way when she is bigger.
 
Is he a really timid piggy? My Enrico is scared of his owns shadow, everything scares him! When he gets scared, he bites
 
Usually it means i don't like that mummy :p rolleyes
If one of mine bites i say NO in a firm but not overly loud voice..... they look up at you then ...... then i tell them how much i love them xoxo
 
i had a piggy that used to bite me but eventually he grew out of it and was the sweetest thing ever until the dreaded bladder stone got him!
 
I'm hoping that it might have been that he was in a grumpy mood?
I've checked him over, and he seems fine? I can't really see anything that could indicate that he's in pain or hes sore, and I've run my fingers through his fur a few times, and it didn't seem to hurt him?

give it time.......patience............ and more time :)


i'm 2yrs into my girls and i still have one that will scurry away....... and then at times fret....not bad.........bad i know her voice...........once you've handled them oodles of times you'll get to know them............
