alright my guinea pig has an open wound, scab like buids up, then hes scratching at it over and over again, reopening it and bleeding

is there any ointment i could use to help heal his scare? could appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions xx>>>

Probably wise to have a vet take a look to see what this is first so you know what treatment to give :-)

it was were he was operated awhile ago, now it occasionally is he scratchs at it with his long nails, which ive clipped it starts bleeding since the wound has been mended, i just wanted too see if an ointment is available somewher =D

Ok. Hmm maybe someone more experienced than I am can answer that but perhaps you could call your vet for advice?

i wish i had an official vet, I'm all over the place, since in Minnesota they dont really specialize on small mammals x_x

Sorry that's a shame. Is it worth just phoning one to ask for advice even if their not exactly your vet? Or do you have some sort of RSPCA out there you could ask I.e. animal rescue department that may give out advice?

It will be itchy because its healing up. Cover your piggies wound with a dressing/jacket. This often works if your piggie will tolerate it. We als tend to bandage back legs of dogs who do this trick, but i would start by trying with a jacket first. Where is the wound?
