Hey when I first got my piggies I signed up to a web site about guinea pig secrets I then found put it was actually a book you had to buy. Well I keep getting the emails from them with little tips and I do feel like I want to buy it but I'm not sure if it is a scam. So has anybody bought it or known anyone that has plz? If not can anybody recommend a good guinea pig book? :) thank you hannah marley and jack

I don't know about that particualr book but I have looked at quite a few guinea books and I have always just come back to the forum.

I bought a guinea pig book from the internet, and it was ok, but then I noticed it recommended a cage for two guinea pigs should be 2ft X 15"! And any bigger than that would make them scared and wild. grrrr

I want to get another guinea pig book, but I would look through it first in real life and see if it looks really good. If I couldn't find a great one, then I'd just rely on this forum! :)

I've found the Peter Gurney books to be practical and entertaining reading.

Thank you guys. I am sure that the best place to find information would be here but it's just nice to be able to read up about them without pestering everyone on here every 5 mins lol

I have been looking at books on amazon as have some vouchers on there and came accross these:

[ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/RSPCA-Pet-Guide-Care-Guinea/dp/0007182694/ref=reg_hu-wl_list-recs"]RSPCA book[/ame] - rspca pet guide

[ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Guinea-Pig-Gold-Medal-Guide/dp/1842861050/ref=pd_sim_b_1"]Guinea-Pig-Gold-Medal-Guide[/ame] Guinea pig gold medal guide

Does anyone know if they are any good?

We have got a few books out of the library but I think it will be good for my daughter to have one she can keep as a reference.
Thanks

dont know personally about the books you found, but these are highly recommended. :)

There's so much conflicting advice out there, its best if you're not sure about anything to just ask here. :)

The RSPCA guide has only 48 pages and the other one 32 pages. They will not contain a lot of information. You are betting off getting them from the library too. It is usually free to reserve a book on a child's ticket.

I think [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Guinea-Piglopaedia-Complete-Ringpress/dp/1860542514"]Guinea Piglopaedia[/ame] is a really good book!

I think what I might do is see if they have it in the library and if I get on with it then I'll buy it, thanks

I use the Guinea Piglopaedia often, Peter Gurney's Piggy Potions and The Proper Care of GPs too. I recommend all three highly. The RSPCA GP book is good for kids as it has lovely pictures, most of the information is good.

Peter Gurney's daughter, Ruth Gurney has an Ebay account where she sell PG's books.

I think that is what I am bidding on as she has a signed book and one with a personal photo and I did wonder how she had them.

I think Guinea Piglopaedia is a really good book!

This one IS good. I am a self-confessed book addict and have most of them!

I also think this is a good book and you wont agree with everything on there but for the most part it's great.

I REALLY loved this one

Very modern, even talks up C&C cages.

I did a search on Peter Gurney and realised he was the late Peter Gurney. Sounds like he made i own medicines for piggie too.
