Hi everyone,
i am new to this forum and i need help?

i am a new 2 week owner of a baby guinea pig who is happy and wheeking, but not long ago she was standing on top of her hidey house and her body was slowly flipping over :(

i was so scared that i ran inside crying to call someone and i came back out and she was just sitting patiently. recently i have noticed shes been drinking a lot of water and sits right in the corner of her hidey house when I'm inside. but when i come out she is wheeking.

I'm not sure if its a mite infestation and I'm scared to pet her because i dont want it to come on me but i feel like such a horrible owner and that having a guinea pig was the wrong thing. now i feel like i never should have got herbut i dont want her to go.

someone please help this has never happened before
i dont want anything bad to happen to her please

She may be huddled up and scared due to being alone, considering piggies should be kept in pairs. However, considering your worries of a seizure and / or a mite infestation, your best bet is to first take her to the vets and see what they can find in regards to her health.

Are you sure she wasn't popcorning? what was her behaviour like straight after? Does she seem to be scratching or biting at herself at all?

Sounds like popcorning to me. Young pigs movements can look like a seizure to people new to Guinea pigs I've found.

My guinea pig had a seizure due to a Mite infestation in and around his ears. Can you explain in more detail what the movement looks like when you noticed the flipping? Don't be afraid to Pet or pick your guinea pig up, the mites that live on guinea pigs do not live on humans, so please make sure you give your guinea pig a lot of affection. Mites that live on guinea pigs also do not transfer to other household pets. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. If this was a seizure due to mites all you need is a quick treatment that you can get at your veterinarian's office. Is your guinea pig itching a lot?

Also.. do you keep your guinea pig outside? I noticed you wrote you went out to see it then ran back inside... where do you live? Guinea pigs can not survive in high temperatures, even 80 degrees is too hot.

I'm not sure if she's popcorning or having a fit, she does do the occasional scratch but not excessive and she doesn't shed. Is it possible for me to attach a video? Thanks

It's just random jumps in all weird directions, I would attach a vid if i knew how to. My Guinea does love outside but she's very warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot, but recently it's been average temps between 18-24 degrees and she's been fine

It sounds like popcorning. Younger piggies can look like they are having a seizure when popcorning. Buddy used to flip around all over the place. Even going onto his sides at one point. Lol.

You could upload from Youtube I think.

As others have said, it's possibly just popcorning, which is something guinea pigs (particularly young guinea pigs) do when they are happy or excited. If you can't figure out how to attach a video, could you look up guinea pigs popcorning on youtube to see if it looks similar?

Thanks for your replies everyone
I will attach a video which is really similar to what my Guinea does until I figure how to attach my own vids. My Guinea is approx 16 weeks old so that could explain the popcorning lol. Thanks for the reassurance everyone :)

At approx 0:25 seconds of the vid she did that and then I was convinced that she wants popcorning but having a seizure. If it is a mite infestation would she still be squeaking happily and active or would she be the opposite?
Thanks

That's most certainly popcorning! Enjoy it! That's one of the guinea pigs most charming activities and they do it less and less as they age
