I am going on holiday next week and my neighbour is looking after the guinea-pigs. I wanted to give my guinea-pigs a bath before I go because 2 of them are longhaired and I want to make sure they are clean, I was hoping this might mean there's less chance of them getting flystrike for a short time.
Also, I was going to use the Gorgeous Guineas Manuka and Neem shampoo, would this be ok to use even though none of my guinea-pigs have mites?
Would cutting the longhaired guinea-pigs hair also help them against flystrike? Someone else I know is going to come in and clean them out once a week but I'm still really scared of them getting flystrike or something whilst I'm away.

I wouldnt worry to much about it. as long as thewy are kept clean and the fur poo free they will be fine. :)

I think Guinea pigs are much less likely to get flystrike than rabbits anyway, so you will probably be okay. Once a week is rather long though, can someone "spot clean" their poops every other day say? :)

Yes, I agree about the frequency - could the person do it twice a week, with them or the neighbour spot cleaning in between?

I was just thinking if it gets very hot in that fortnight, it might be less hygenic for them.

I'm not sure, I am trying to find the best bedding to use whilst I'm away, to be more absorbant, but my guinea-pigs aren't litter trained or anything and normally go to the toilet anywhere. The lady has offered to come to them twice whilst I'm away so they'd only have about 5 days between each clean, would that be better? I'm so worried about them, I know they will be well looked after but 2 weeks is such a long time to be away from them :))
I also have rabbits who aren't litter trained, I don't want them to get flystrike or anything horrible like that.

The guinea-pigs are normally on vetbed but the girls need their vetbed changing every other day, because there's three of them and they all sit in the same part of the hutch most of the time.

If you use wood shavings or another absorbent bedding, and their hutches are quite big, then I think a week should be fine between cleaning. Those kinds of bedding need cleaning a lot less than hay or vet bed or fleece or anything, I'm sure they'll be fine.

If you feel they need a bath anyway, then that shampoo should be fine for them :)
