Hi, i'm looking for someone in the Stockport/Ashton under Lyne area (I live in Glossop) who can look after my BonBon for a few nights next week whilst i'm on holiday. I'd leave her at home with her sisters but she needs a bit more care than them and I don't want to leave her over night for four nights without a hooman being there to check on her. I'd take her with me, but think the 4 hour drive to Scotland is a bit too long for her.
If anyone can help, i'll be extremely grateful.

I will if you are close enough? I'm crawley if you want to google the difference?

Absolutely miles away I believe though it is kind of you to offer.

I'm also opposite direction to Scotland and quite a distance away otherwise I would offer to help out.

Cant help I'm afraid, I'm in glasgow and also looking for a sitter for a weekend as 2 of mine are on meds.. So close to cancelling. Its so stressful to think of my girls situation at the mo and leaving her with someone else. I hope someone can help you :)

Hi, I live in Stockport but can't help you out as I'm often away myself at short notice.

I use two vets - a local one but mostly an exotics specialist, Ashleigh Vets in Chorlton (on the recommended list here). One of the local vet nurses who has house rabbits suggested the following place in Woodley Stockport for boarding.
Pet boarding | guinea pig, chicken, Rabbit | Ferret | Stockport | Manchester | UK

I used it last year and was very happy, but one of my adopted guineas loses weight v easily (I was feeding him porridge at 1am last night because he'd lost nearly 100g in a day!) and so whilst it was great when it was summer/autumn last year, he lost weight one week when he was there (I'm sure they did absolutely nothing wrong - he's just v frail) so now they stay at Ashleigh Vets where their poo output and food input is measured, they are weighed every day and given meds! I think the garage at Snug as a Bug is heated and it is certainly a good size to run around, but for my special needs guinea pig whose cage has its own radiator that is on when the rest of the house is chilly, I'd rather pay for the extra special care they get at the vets.

I hope you find somewhere. Snug as a bug might be a good place to try. xx

Hi :) I managed to find someone local yesterday to take her in whilst i'm away, she has piggies herself, and is even coming to pick her up from my house tomorrow night. They're called Charlies Pals and are based in Glossop, and offer a pet sitting service too.
Thanks for your help guys :)

It went well, she did loose a bit of weight whilst she was away, but she's putting it back on nicely, I think she was just stressed through being in a strange place. Her poops have been normal for over a month now, and she's on gripe once a day (whilst away, I suggested twice a day).
I think i'll try and take her with me next time, as she seems to cope better with someone she knows. I'm hoping though, by then, which is April next year, she'll be fully back to normal and not need any more treatment. I have noticed something else which used to be normal for her, she's starting using the water bottle again, or if she was before, she was doing it on the sly.
I'm hoping it's onwards and upwards from now on.

Glad Bonbon is doing well. Hope you were able to relax while you were away and had a good time. We took our pigs with us to a holiday cottage in Wales, it was a 3 hour trip they were ever so good in their carrier and even ate cucumber when we stopped half way. Their luggage took up all the space in the car though, we had to travel very lightly ourselves!
