Hi guys,

I'm a new guinea pig owner, just got my guinea pig for 3 months. Today, I discovered there is a wound on his belly and without hair in that area.

He acts the same as usual, running around, eat a lot, playing with other guinea pig.

What should I do to help him?

*Sorry for my poor English

Sorry, I really don’t know what this is. Best the get him vet checked, to be on the safe side x He gorgeous!

Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking of what is the best way to move him to see a vet.

Currently, I'm using a 4 X 2 C&C cage for him and another guinea pig. There is no way to bring that cage with me.

Is it necessary to buy a carrier to bring him around or can I put him in a paper box?

I’d get a carrier. In case you need to take the two of them together in future, a box wouldn’t be enough.

Update:

I went to PetSmart today (where I got my guinea pigs). The staff said it looks like some kind of cut, maybe cause by another guinea pig bite or scratch.

Then, she suggested me to put some 'Polysporin' on the spot and it helps to heal. If he doesn't recover in 2 weeks, then take him to see the vet.

I wouldn't put anything on it as to me it looks like you have found his nipple and the black mark is just skin tone (skin tone matches hair colour)

Maybe you're right, I asked the same questions on reddit and two comments said the exact same answers like you.
TBH, I didn't know their nipples are that near their back legs... I guess I learned something new today.

Easy way to check is look at the same spot the other side and see if you can find the other one. If they are identical then it's the nipples

I use a large storage tub to transport piggies to the vet.
I put a towel on the bottom, add some hay and few fresh greens to keep them happy and off we go.

Hope your boy recovers soon
