I randomly petted my guinea pig opposite of her fur near her behind, and she starting squeaking! She also moved around a bunch the more I did it. I wasn’t sure if she liked being pet like that so I put her back in her cage and now I’m asking here. Anyone know if this is normal behavior and she likes it?

Yes its normal behaviour and she was displaying annoyance at what you were doing. The moving around more is to get away from what's happening

Most guinea pigs don’t like being petted at their back ends.
The fact that she told you she didn’t like it and moved away rather than just freezing is good.
It means she’s not afraid of you.
You are right to ask the questions- it’s how we learn and is the sign of a good owner.
I’ve learned a lot here and it’s reassuring to know that I come on the forum, ask my question and get help.

When you say "opposite of her fur" - you mean like stroking her fur the wrong way? My Clover will squeak and wriggle like she's in pain if you do that, but Silk only does a loud purring noise.

Ooh that’s a good point. When I do fur checks each week and rub their coat wrong way to check skin Holly and Mabel say nothing, Sylvia purrs at me, Ralph rumbles and Poppy shrieks as if I am poking her with hot pins. A full range of piggy expressions.

Yep, piggies aren't real fans of having their backs and bums petted x

So true. I actually took Bobby to the vets when I first got him as he loves being petted, but goes completely nuts if you touch any further back than his middle. He jumps about and does actually kick. He has a rosette on either side, so I think it is because the fur gets rubbed up the wrong way if you pat him there. He's a Peruvian cross, so he has really long hair, and it makes brushing him an absolute nightmare.

My Cookie hates to be petted all over her body! She's also very vocal about it, it's like I'm killing her! But she LOVES chin and cheek rubs. Prince hates being rub on his backside as well but loves it when I do the nose rubs.

My piggy purs but she loves it. I tickle her ears, chin, butt whatever she's purring all over, when I give her veggies she purrs also. My other piggy never purs even when her butt gets stroked.

I guess if shes jumping away she probably dosn’t like it.
