Hello,
my guniea pig is 2 years old and lately I have noticed that she squeaks when she goes to pee, also it seems that now she pees and drinks water much less then before, and I seen that the pee is now transparent. (it was white).
She eats normal.
Is it dangerous? What is it? What should I do?
Thank you!

Also sometimes it seems like she goes to pee, squeaks but doesn't pee.

Hi and welcome to the forum. White in the pee is usually just excess calcium leaving the body. However if she appears to be in discomfort when she is peeing i’d recommend a little checkup at the vets to rule out a UTI.

Hi and welcome

Please have your guinea pig seen by a vet. It can have a urinary tract infection (UTI, for which it needs an antibiotic) or a bladder stone, which requires an operation. Either issue will only get worse the longer you wait; neither will disappear on its own.

Please be aware that the urine should be clear. Milky urine is a sign that you either overfeed on calcium righ foods (veg and pellets), which can contribute to the formation of bladder stones if you see lots of them, or the calcium absorption can be disturbed shortly before the onset of a UTI.

Please shift to weighing daily at the same time to monitor the food intake and step in with supportive syringe feeding once your guinea pig loses over 50g/ 2 oz of weight in just a few days or a day.
