Guinea pig squeals when being picked up?

Hello! My guinea pig of 2 years suddenly started sequeling whenever we pick him up. He usually runs from us for a while but now he’s making a very loud squeal each time we take him out for lap time. He also started laying in his cage a lot more than usual. He’s eating his veggies and hay and drinking okay, I’m just very worried about the squeling. Could he be sick? Thanks so much I’m advance.

I would recommend you take him to the vets for a check up, in case he is in pain and that’s why he has suddenly started squealing when being picked up.

I agree with guineautopia and would pop him along for a health check as it's unusual behaviour for him. I have a squealer but she's been a squealer from the start and has more recently started to calm down which is what I expected to see

I’d recommend a vet visit, too. Any change in behaviour could indicate an illness or problem of some sort. Best get him checked over by a professional.

I wound up taking him to the vet today and he has a little problem with his GI Tract but we have medicine to give him now. Thankyou everyone for your input

Pleased you took him to the vet earlier and glad that the vet found out what was wrong and he is on medication for it. What medicine did the vet prescribe?
