I have just bought a two tier plastic cage which has wooden stairs. The guinea pigs wont use them without help as they cant grip on them, they slide down it like its a ski slope. The steps are a smooth wood ramp with a few small wooden slats on it.

Has anyone any ideas how to make the stairs less slippery so that the pigs will use them?

i recently bought some non-slip fabric stuff from a pound shop to use on stairs etc, its kind of like a rubbery texture and you can wash it

just to check, is carpet/rubber material safe if it is chewed? others have suggested vetbed, would this work and where would you buy this from, would pets at home have it?

blimey, i cant remember, but if you look at the main screen i am sure it will tell you there, or wait until someone comes along that knows more!

thanks. ps how do i get a photo to show alongside my posts?

Click on User CP on the green (or purple) bar above.
Then go down to Settings & Options on the right hand panel and click Edit Avatar. It is then straight forward.

thanks have now stuck vet bed to the stairs with velcro and it has worked perectly. Used to be a ski slope but they now grip to it well and are confident. The stairs still slip as they are not fixed at the base any suggestions to fix this welcome!
