Guinea Pig Stroke.

Don’t have him put down!
A rescue or shelter may be able to take him instead, and get him the treatment he needs! X

I am sorry you are in such a worrying situation. I hope the RSPCA are able to help. If not, would the PDSA be able to collect from you? I note that you are unable to travel there. If you update your location we may be able to direct you to a rescue who can help.

Guys I have around 85p and 2 weeks to go until I get any other form of money. Discounted or not I am not eligible when I have no means of travel or part payment. I have e-mailed local vets begging for help and payment plans.

What worries me with that is not only you pets health but also your own.

I hope you have your food, hot water, heating etc all sorted for the next 2 weeks.

Hi guys. Sorry to cause concern. I have all of the resources necessary in place in advance to look after the pig. Heat, food, hay, shelter. I have pre-prepared all necessities for the month, however this has obviously been unexpected. He isn't in any pain and his 'bulging' eye is subsiding. And, apart from that and the head tilt he is behaving completely normally. I apologise for any drama in previous posts. I'd had a terrible day and many people were letting me down. I know one should prepare for the worst; however 2 weeks ago I mentioned to a family member my concern of possible mites. They told me "I will take him to a vet next week!". I said, well give it a few more weeks to see if the Ivermectin changes anything...... So, I thought I could bank in on that 'offer'. I was then told to "just get him put down or something", and it obviously upset me. Thank you all for your concern and help. Floki is progressing and I shall keep you updated on his progress.

Yes Betsy that was exactly the reactions I was getting. For the sake of a few pounds I will have in around 11 days anyway. I used to see them as disposable. They eat and poo alot. But the little guy has his own personality! Ahah and I care about his quality of life. I keep checking on him and catch him asleep with his eyes . He is quite happy. Currently having an explore.

Also, his buldging eye has reduced a tiny bit, it isn’t twitching and he definitely isn’t blind in that eye. He closes it if I flick my finger near and he keeps watching me and having a peek out of his box using the eye concerned.

Pig update. His eye is basically the same size as the unaffected eye. His head tilt has deminished but there slightly. He is faster. Flighty again. Walking fine and faster than the past couple days. I’ve been giving him about 1ml of Osteocare dissolved in a small anount of water twice a day and drinks of Dhiarolyte every few hours.

Hi guys, sorry to spam. Just heard Floki, from the next room where he is having an explore in, do the ‘wheeek whuurrghhhk’ excited call. First time I’ve ever heard him do that. Has anyone noticed pigs sort of learning new sounds over time?
