Guinea Pig Support Website - Feedback

I've been wanting for a while to be able to do something to support guinea pigs in general, not just my own spoiled girls x). I volunteer at the small animal house in a local generic rescue but wanted to do something a bit more involved and targeted at piggies. The small animal house I volunteer at has mainly bunnies and only occasionally piggies.

I've just launched a website which will aim to support and promote piggies in rescue here in UK but welcome any feedback from anyone, anywhere. This is a non for profit website and I don't plan on benefiting in any way (except happiness for helping piggies )

It is still a bit bare but hopefully once I start promoting more people will get involved. I would love to get some general feedback and input. I know this is not a new concept but hopefully it will grow and be a great help. I think the more promoting and awareness there is the better.

It's amazing how much more promotion rabbits seem to get. Despite the fact they are wildly different to each other guineapigs always seem to come as some kind of sub section, but I suppose it only follows the trend and ratios.

If we try to aim it at parents I think it will vastly improve the adult aspect of pets for families and not for children. And also, we should try to see how many gents out there are guineapig carers. Guineapig caring has got this weird stigma of belonging to the realm of the teen girl or women in their 40's! haha.. It's not that niche!

Perhaps even a guineapigs around the world section - to show how guineapig rescues in non-british countries are getting along. Perhaps they have different practices and experiences in GP keeping? Especially with the supersized pigs in America seeming more popular (I forget their actual name).

Sorry I got a bit carried away, perhaps these topics aren't all suitable but I hope you the best of luck getting more moss on the stone! Will you be making a facebook promo page? I'll have to make sure I do if you do join!

I have just had a quick read-through and wondered if you'd like a little proof reader elf? I have spotted a couple of little things that you might like to tweak If you PM me I would happily be a second pair of eyes for you?

I absolutely agree with you on the age/ gender issue. The site is targeted and focused at adults and not children. I hope the design and wording reflect that. This is an aspect I really want to hone in, the fact that guinea pigs are not the domain of children and in fact, they are not really ideal pets for children (in my opinion). From here and from other places I know a lot of men that have and love piggies and all ages are represented so yes, it might be good to capture that somehow. I'll have a think.

Also love your idea of feauturing piggy rescues elsewhere in the world I think until the site develops some more I migth incorporate this in the blog and see how it goes. Thank you so, so much!
