I'm having to do a project for college and I've decided to focus mine around how many guinea pigs are in rescue centres and why. I'm in the process of messaging several pet shops and guinea pig rescue centres but I have also published a survey to try and get some general statistics from pet owners themselves.

If you could take the time to answer my question I would be really grateful. It's only 10 questions long and all multiply choice questions so it wouldn't take very long to answer. It would really help me out if you guys could answer it and maybe share it with other pet owners too?

Thank you guys so much.

Guinea Pig Rescue Centre vs Pet Shop Survey

I agree about a box to clarify the answers. I have bought from pet shops in the past but would no longer do so. I think rescues (decent ones) are effective in that they save guinea pigs from less than decent homes and they educate.

Pet shops selling pets encourages impulse buys (which I have done myself in the past, recent past) and rarely provide adequate sized housing for them.

Thank you to every one who's done the survey.

Unfortunately I was only allowed to do a survey with closed answers.

Thank you for all your guys imput though

I'm not sure yet but any feedback would be really appreciated! Thank you :D

Ok, my first comment is along the lines of what Jaycee said about a comments box. The questions all have very black and white answers but my thoughts don't necessarily match that. So for example "do you see anything wrong with pet shops selling guinea pigs?" I had to put an answer of no... however, that doesn't mean I don't see anything wrong with unlicensed breeding, mass breeding, lack of staff knowledge, mis-sexing in shops etc.

Same with "do you think rescue centres for guinea pigs are effective?" - effective in which way... looking after piggies appropriately? finding good homes? promoting themselves? all of the above? I think this question confused me a bit.

Also I think the order of the questions is a bit confusing asking whether I am aware that there are guinea pig rescues after asking me if I have guinea pigs and where did I get them from (when I have already ticked to say that I got mine from a rescue). I don't think with a simple survey that you could have overcome this unless you asked question 6 first but maybe a survey that only brings up that question if someone hasn't ticked the rescue button earlier
