Hi, I am new to this forum so hope I am writing in the right place ?

Question is I have two guinea pig's , right and one has just lost her tooth broken off at gum line then the other one broken off .just got bottom teeth grow back ok, and then top teeth broken off at gum line .not sure what cause this ? any advice ?.all she had off vet was pain refrill.
she's ok how because I had to do a lot of nursing for her cutting her food up, she goes wild for cumcuber, both do !
any advice on why my guinea pig loses her teeth ?
she is a lunky breed 54 week's old and my other guinea pig is 5 month old love them to bit's, and also my Rabbit. which my animal's are my best friend's and help me though this depression I have .

I've had a few of my pigs losing teeth at the gum line, almost always because of some kind of injury (jumping to far or running into something). They grow back very quickly. I'm wondering if both sets of teeth broke at the same time, but maybe with the top ones the break was just below the gumline so they didn't fall out until they had grown a bit more. Just a theory. Furryfriends will be able to help more.

I think you make a good point here.

Often they can be broken below the gumline and are maybe a little wobbly to start with, and then as they grow up they just break off. Hopefully this will just be a one-off and once they have re-grown there will be no further problem. If it continues to happen then it will require further investigation.

Braking off is usually down to a trauma, usually falling from height. Sometimes they can have congenital issues, but hopefully as Debbie has said hopefully it a one off.

Thank 's for the advice everyone !
hope it is just a one off, she's the best guinea pig I have had. when I got her at 7 week's old she was in a bit of a mess from this breeder she was all wet at the back of her and when you touch her she would jump.
but how she is 55 week's old. I will have to put some photo's up of my 2 guinea pig's and my Rabbit. Thank' s again
