I have a one and a half year old guinea pig who sneezes all the time. I use fleece bedding and clean the cage every day. I have taken my pig to the vet on several occasions to a highly regarded exotic/ small animal vet. The vet says that her lungs sound clear and but I recently took her in for a crusty/ milky fluid around her eye. I have been giving her eye drops and oral antibiotics for 10 days as directed meaning tonight would be her last dose. Her eyes are clear, she has energy, normal urine and bowl movements, and is eating and drinking like normal... But she still keeps sneezing! She has always been somewhat of a sneezy pig... But I don't know what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If she is eating and drinking OK and has lots of energy like you said, then I'd be inclined not to worry too much. I've got a snuffly boy who sounds ill and if it was any of the others, I'd be concerned, but this is just the way he is!

Whereabouts in NJ are you? (Not that I have a great geographical knowledge, but other US members might have other options). :)

I'm in southern NJ... about 20 minutes outside Philadelphia.

Hey,

What is she bedded on? wood shavings? Fleece? Does she sneeze all the time or have your noticed it after she has been snuffling around in her hay etc....

The white milky eye fluid you saw may have been the cleaning fluid that they use to clean there eyes I have seen it occassionally on one of our girls..

Milky eye fluid is what cleans piggy eyes - and nothing at all to worry about; it's the clear fluid that indicates that something is not right in the eye, actually!

Have and your vet considered hay allergy? It happens. You may need to look around for the dust extracted hay that causes her the least discomfort.
