Now, let me first say that my guinea pig is healthy and there is no emergency, but I’m just curious.
Whenever I ring a bell I have in my room, my youngest guinea pig(~3 weeks) always vibrates. Like, just now I was watching a YouTube video in their pen, and when it dinged, she vibrated. Now, my older guinea pig(~17 weeks) doesn’t care.
I was wondering if anybody had any idea as to why my youngest one would do this? I found it strange, yet funny.

My girl pig does it. She even did it to the debit card machine at the vets. Its them disliking the sound. Its nothing major.

Doorbells, phone loud speakers, whistling, all cause her to moan

Okay, thank you. I thought it could be her chattering her teeth, but she does it when we pet her, and it sounds exactly like she’s vibrating.

Yea mine vibrates sometimes when being petted. Its normal. They do it more though when they are new to you

I’ve noticed mine ‘vibrate’ when there are birds making alarm calls in the garden (usually when the cat is about). But they also do it if I jangle the keys when going to open the door and when I cough! I presume it’s a fear call when they’re unsure of something.

It's a sound I don't often see mentioned in behavioural guides but I learnt it was down to fear. Some do it more than others and some brave little ones don't do it at all.
