is it normal for guinea pigs some weeks not to gain much and other weeks gain more? this week 2 of my piggies gained 24 grams and 30 grams where as the other 2 gained 2 and one lost 8 grams (she's new so putting it too new environment) also when do guinea pigs stop gaining as much weight? 3 of mine are 4-5 months and my new one is 3-4 months. the new one is 408 grams, my smallest of my first 3 is 435 and my 2 biggest are 469 and 509 grams they're all sows. Piggies weights can fluctuate as much as 30g in one day so don't worry.

Your piggies have a lot of growing to do yet. They usually stop growing at around 12 months old I think.

I'm glad to hear that is it okay if they lost 30? as last time one of my piggies lost 30 she had a bacterial infection. my piggy thats 435 now lost weight on her first week too but she gained it back.

It's fine Just keep an eye on her and take her for a vet check if she continues to lose or if she suddenly losses a large amount. A loss of 50g you should air on the side of caution and a loss of 100g is an emergency vet visit

Our 6 and 7 month old piggies typically are gaining 20 or 30g a week. But when our little boar was neutered his potential girlfriend lost more weight than him that week because she was upset that he disappeared and came back smelling of the vet! And her cousin gained 60g that week because she ate all the food
We keep a piggy weight diary now and every weekend we weigh them and check back over the last 3 or 4 weeks to check everyone is gradually getting bigger. But some weeks we see no weight gain or a small (10 or 15g) loss for 1 piggy and some weeks its a 50 or 60g gain, but averaged over 2 or 3 weeks theres a 20 or 30g per week increase.

Aww bless her haha, I keep track of their weight too, I’ve had 3 of them 6 weeks so in 6 weeks the biggest one gained 176 grams, the second biggest gained 179 grams too and the smallest of the first 3 gained 130 grams two fluctuated the first 2 weeks and when one was sick but since then been gaining about 20-30 grams a week too. Too me they don’t look any bigger but that’s probably because I see them everyday haha by weight wise they have but physically they don’t look any bigger haha

I though mine were getting quite big until I adopted 2 new extra giant fatty adult piggies last friday (1290g and 1180g!) but my others look tiny and skinny now by comparison! All my slimmer piggies are healthy though, healthier than my new giant fatties, I think they should attain an adult weight of 800 to 1200g at about a year old...
