How much do adult male guinea pigs weigh and how much should they roughly weigh at 3 months.

as i have just weighed George for the first time, he does look big for his age but not fat. he weighed around 1.4kg.

any advice would help as i am new to this

Is George 3 months old and he weighs 1.4kg?

1.4kg is an ok weight for an adult, but seems alot for just 3 months old....?

That is what my scales said, dont know if they are right, as he is not fat, and is fed a correct and healthy diet.

I got him from a breeder who said he was born on 28th dec, and he has been to vet, who said nothing about his weight

Could you post a picture of him so we can see him and his size, unless your scales are wrong i would say he is older than 3 months.....

a typical 3 months old should weigh about 900g :) you have a big pig ;)

He does look like a big boy, and as you say not fat, just big, very handsome and masculine! :))

I would say he still has his "baby face" i'm sure others will know what i mean by that, as in some more filling out and growing into ears to do.

Yeah he does still have his baby face, am not sure he is 3 months and was given wrong information.

When do they become adults

Breeders are just as bad as pet shops, will almost always sell you a sick, pregnant or missexed piggie, so i hope you have been lucky.

I would say adultness starts around around 12 months + however the youngest of mine is a year and 3 months, the other 2 over a year and they still all acts like babies, very loud, constant popcorning :))

yes i will go to a rescue is future, he is defo a male, as when he went to vets for nail clipping, the nurse checked, and he seems healthy apart from he came to use with lice/fleas which are thankfully have gone now through having a bath. That is why i am confused as he weighing as a adult and looks too big for his age, but acts like a total baby.

So now not to sure on his age

To be honest the breeder probably told you he was a baby to make the sale, for whatever reason alot of people only want to buy babies.

My 3 month old boy is just over 900g so 1.4kg seems pretty heavy for that age... but then again he might just be a big pig!

He's definately still got his baby face. They look kinda 'mousey' about the face for a fair while so he can't be too old. My oldest is coming up to 1 year at the end of the month and is about 1.15kg. He's only just starting to fill out now after being a very petite and long, slim baby.

He's beautiful though and you'll love him no less no matter what!

Yes i Still love him loads, and is my baby as acts like one, would be nice to know a rough age. I am not too worried about his weight as he is healthy and is fed well and does not look fat

I think my scales are just Unreliable as i weighed him again yesterday along with my hamster

and he weighed around 900g
