Hey everyone. So about 20 mins ago I was cleaning my guinea pigs cage, I have two girls, and they got so excited and were popcorning like crazy (this is a usual occurrence)! Well, one of my girls is in season right now I think and so she began rumblestrutting at the other after they bumped into each other. Well, my other one decided to rumble strut back, which began a big back and forth chase between them. Needless to say, the one who rumble strutted in return ended up running and turning, only to hit her head on the wood railing on their ramp. She was extremely stunned and shook her head a few times. She walked just fine for a few steps. But then sort of sat in one place with her head partially tilted and was almost “hiccuping.” I was so worried so I pet her head and sides and was talking to her. I didn’t try to move her because she would’ve gotten more nervous and I didn’t want her to hurt herself more.
After a couple minutes of sitting there with me petting her, she then was back to normal. Her head was straight and she didn’t try shaking it and she walked down the ramp. She even popcorned a little and then ate some hay. It was so weird to see her so stiff and then normal again within a short time. Any advice for what I should look out for with an injury like this? I’m just nervous that her initial reaction indicated definite injury, but at the moment she seems alright. Her eating and walking perfectly fine made me feel much better but I don’t want to be naive and think she’s 100% just from that.

he initial reaction would have been shock and then getting spooked hence her sitting there.

If she is eating and walking and there is no sign of a cut i would watch and wait for now. movement and normal behaviour is good. If there is any change in behaviour - not eating, sitting fluffed up, any sign of blood, head tilted - then a vet check ASAP

Or if you are concerned for any reason then a vet check

Thank you so much! She has been perfect all day so far so I’m happy about that.
