Hi, I was wondering if anyone could advise. One of my girls is doing this unusual wiggling sort of movement. She does it without walking around - she moves her head from side to side and sort of wiggles her bum around too. She doesn’t make any noise when doing this and like I said she’s not moving around when she does it. It’s definitely not rumblestrutting as I have seen her do that many times. It looks almost like she has an itch she can’t get to. My OH says he’s seen her do it a few times but neither of us can work out what it means. She’s in good health so I have no concerns in that regard but any advice would be appreciated! I’ll try and get a video of her next time I spot it! Cheers

No it’s definitely not popcorning, it’s a slower movement. I did wonder this but it’s too slow really, she steadily moves her body - it’s like she’s trying to turn and sniff her bum on each side but over and over again

I don’t think so, it’s like she goes to scratch but then tries the other side but over and over again. It’s very peculiar

If I understand correctly, then it's something I used to see in some of my guineas.

There was a similar question a little while ago, with a little film of the piggy doing it:
Mags' weird behaviour
my response is there, tho other responses may be more useful!

Hi

It rather sounds to me like she may have an itch on her back she cannot get at as well. But sight unseen we can only speculate.

If you would like to upload a video for us to make a more educated guess that is not based on the filter of your own perception, please do so on a public setting on a platform that doesn't require a membership sign-in, like youtube for instance; then copy the video across into your next post.
The one big drawback of not being part of social media but having full control of our friendly and supportive space which is entirely run as a non-profit by voluntary member donations is a very expensive video upload. We do however feel that what we gain with being a friendly and supportive place with a great community is worth the price. ;)

Meant to post my reply to the other comment under here:

Thank you so much, that’s really helpful ❤️

I will try and capture a video, I tried to for a while last night but she didn’t seem to want to perform 😂 leave it with me…

- YouTube I managed to get a longer video, please excuse the commentary 😂 would you say still that this is itchiness?

I would say discomfort of some sort, from what I've read on here. When my own pig did this, I thought she was just being a bit funny if not completely ridiculous, poor wee thing, but that was a long time ago before I ever heard of this forum.

Hope somebody else with more definite clue gets back to you.
