I am new to the forum and hope i am posting in the right place
I have a 3 year old female piggy who started to only eat tiny amounts of food about 8weeks ago.A big abcess then arrived under her ear across her jaw bone.I took her straight to Vedra and the cambridge cavy trust.It was lanced and flushed for 7days,we saw no improvement and she stopped eating and had to be surringe fed.Back and forth to the cct and kindly looked after by val and april lodge for 3weeks.She was taken to a vets in deal who wanted to lance it further but under anashetic which we didnt feel happy about but she was struggeling so much that we all thought that was the only way for a real examination and tooth check!She came around fine and was gived antibiotics plus pain killers.We saw no inprovement again and she still smelt of pus.Back to the cct and vedra told us they did not take the sack of tissue out so vedra took it out.We saw some improvement for a couple of days but now my piggy is left with a big jawbone and only able to eat a tiny amount?we have tryed everything and spent over 400pounds in the last 8weeks.We just want her to be better as she is alert and walking around and always attempting to eat?We live in sidcup so the traveling to cct every weekend is a 3.5hour trip which is ok but she is just not improving.Also so grateful to vedra and val.
Has anybody ever experienced this before?I have had a number of piggys and have never experinced anything like this. Any ideas i would be grateful
