Hi there,

Welcome to the forum. Could you please add your location to your profile that way if we ever need to tailor any advice to your area we can do.

Skinny piggies are a liitle differnent to their furry counterparts. They tend to eat and poo more as their metabolism is quicker I believe and should be kept indoors only. Here is a thread on skinny piggies http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/caring-for-skinny-guinea-pigs.38166/ and here is a link to some info on Skinny Pigs on Guinea Lynx http://www.guinealynx.info/records/viewtopic.php?t=43

I am tagging into this thread two owners of Skinnies
@helen105281
@GloriousGuineaGirl

As regards to her club foot, can she walk around okay? How long have you had her?

hi
yes she lives indoors ive had her about 4 days she walks ok as if we were walking on our wrists thats the only way i can describe it she sometimes lift one leg up when eating i dont no if it worries her x thank u x

What's her name? Have you had piggies before? The best thing I could say is to get her checked over by the vet. If you are UK based we have a recommended vet locator 07840963927

hi
her name is pinky no i havent but done all the research on the skinny pigs she isnt in pain but just want to make sure i have the right set up for her etc x

Pinky, that's a sweet name :)

Here are a few threads on piggies care that will help you

Guinea Pigs are prey animals naturally and can take a while to settle and you have to gain their trust. Food is a great way to earn this trust, they will soon associate you with good things that way. Another way to get them used to you is to talk lots to them also so they get used to the sound of your voice. Here is a great link containing tips on how to settle your piggies

Unfortunately some piggies do have some deformities that just makes them extra special. As long as her club foot is causing her no pain and she is putting weight on it and walking. It isn't red and swollen is it?

Hi welcome to the forum. Is she putting weight on the foot ok? If she isn't it will need checking by a vet and she may need some anti-inflammatories.

I have 2 skinny sows and they are little divas. Let me know if you need any information. What bedding is she on?

Hey there and welcome :) I have replied to your pm annette :) I have 2 boys and I keep their room at 70-75 f or 20-23 c anything under that and they tend to get cold. Ob with summer coming I prob will not be using the oil radiator. I keep them on fleece with puppy pads underneath as its great for wicking away any wee and keeping them dry. As for her club feet fleece would be kind to these.

I feel as long as she is eating and drinking prop and not losing weight and passing poops etc ok then she will be ok, however I would go and get her checked by a vet to rule out any complications she may have. As piggies are prey animals they are good at hiding their pain/problems until really sick so if they are hurting her you may not ness know! A vet will be able to check joints etc. :)

As for their skin it does have a tendancy to get dry sometimes but @helen105281 recommended me to some spray and it is very good. Be careful to put any human products on that you may read about as it can block their pores and cause fungal infections etc. Try to keep the sharp ends off her nails as when she scratched they have a tendancy to leave sharp scratches in their skin if it is too long. :)

hi
i will try and put pics on thru my mobil yes she is eating/drinking she is a very quiet piggy and docent run around to much xx I'm going to take her to vets she has fleece in her cage which is all one level due to her feet xx she does gives kisses on comarnd which is really sweet she is very affectionate :0 also i have noticed when she goes to wee she does it outside her bedroom so I'm wondering if she could be litter trained and how i would do it x

If you put a litter tray where she normally wees and peg a cover over the cage there she may use it.A lot depends on whether she will be abl e to get in and out of it as well.I have newspaper then finacard then hay in mine.The rest of the cage is fleece. Put her water bottle and hay rack above it.Good luck

Hi and welcome!

Skinnies are amazing, I have a little boy called "Little Man" he is gorgeous.

The spray you want for her skin is called Humilac, this is the one that @helen105281 recommends! I got mine from ebay here :
Use it as and when her skin feels dry

I would definitely take her to the vet as there maybe something they can do / suggest to help her feet, it isn't normal for skinnies to have clubbed feet.

Also she will need a friend so she doesn't get lonely, human company whilst guineas do enjoy it, is no substitute for a guinea friend. Skinnies can live very happily with hairy friends, so you wouldn't need to get another skinny. My skinny has recently made friends with a lovely little fuzzy hairy boy and they are very happy together! You will need to find a friend who works well with her personality, if in the uk there are lots of rescues where you can take your girl and they will find you a personality matched friend for her. There is a locator you can use below :
http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/pages/guinea-pig-rescue-locator/

I also recommend you get some snuggle sacs or fleecy beds for her so she can climb in if she feels a little chilly you can find these on ebay or there are lots of shops that sell them on the internet. you could also make one yourself. I have made numerous bags / beds and I cant sew in a straight line and they still work out lol!

let me know if you want links to how to make DIY bags / beds and ill get you some :)

Finally welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy it here! If you want anything give me a shout!

HI

Thank u for all your help much appreciated x i do have her dad here i bought them both could they live together if he got neatured xx

Yes they could, it is a matter of finding a vet who has neutered pigs on a regular basis. There will then be a 6 week wait after the operation before they could be bonded. Are they living alongside each other at the moment?

I would def look into neutering option, make sure you find a vet with guinea neutering experience and good sucess rate that should help to limit possibility of post op complications. x
