Hi,
We got two piggies this year, the first one in January and the second one in March. They were very happy until two weeks ago or so, when piggy no 1 - Koko- got a very sore nose and lost all her hair on the nose - it looks sore and even bloody. We have been cleaning out the cage at least twice if not three or four times a week and have been looking after them well all the time with lots of fresh food. Very concerned now. We have taking her to the vet who has taken a culture, but said it would take two weeks a least for any results. So after reading a lot of literature I though it might be a fungal infection and have started treating her with clotrimazole. Has anyone got any other ideas what to do?
Thanks!

Hi and welcome!

It very much sounds like a fungal infection, but without even a picture all I can do is guess. When you are dealing with a fungal infection, you aways need to treat all guinea pig in contact in order to prevent another outbreak and a transmission via spores that have caught in the fur coat.

Could you please add your country, state/province or Uk county to your details so we can tailor any advice to brands and products that are available where you are. Click on your username on the top bar, then go to personal details and scroll down to location. This makes it appear in every post you make. Thank you!

I can't seem to upload the pics. It always says error when I try. I shall continue to try, but imagine totally bold nose - about a 1 pence piece with some bloody sores. We have used some clotrimazole on her just in case.
