Hello all.

I was wondering, as I am not able to find any scientific studies on this subject:

What happens if a pig is withheld from vegetables, and his only intake is high quality pellets and hay, and fresh water ofcourse? This assuming he gets his required Vitamin C dosage by 40/80mg pills and the remainder that resides in his pellets?

Or is it so that basically everything he requires is inside the pellets? (in this example I'd take Oxbox Adult/Juveniles pellets as example)

Thanks!

I would doubt there are any scientific studies on this either.

There are lots of other nutrients and vitamins within vegetables. I would never withhold vegetables unless medical issues such as wet poo's when you are trying to sort their system back out. When we had to do this it was only for a few days until our piggy had stopped bloating then we reintroduced the veggies slowly to find out the problematic food?

Are you having to withhold vegetables for a medical reason?

Nah man, I dont want to spend too much money on them.

Haha no never lol, I've probably been over feeding veggies to them if anything :D

My boar has had soft poo for a while intermittently, and it seems like no veggie in particular is causing it.

Ive literally been giving him 10g/15g a day now and his poopies have been 'acceptable'.

Then one day i was like screw it ill give him the whole lot see what happens, close to diahrea the day after.

Its just hard to not give ANYthing whiles hes begging :-(

Hence my initial question! :-)

If he simply cant take any veggies,
and i mean not a single gram, I'd really like some expert to hopefully answer my question.

There is no relation to the 'wetness' in veggies imho, as he simply drinks a lot more now.

Been thinking about 'dried' veggies too if that even exists, so he can still obtain some nutrients from them?

Thanks for reading!

Veg are good as it gives them additional nutrients and variations to their diet so if you can it's best to try the elimination diet that has been suggested.

But I have heard of people who have had to put their piggies on a no veg diet.

I wouldn't recommend dried veg as they be very concentrated and might cause more of a problem.

Ah ok, thanks.

Do you by any chance know whether they get extra nutriens from other sources? Like Multi vitamins or more specific?

Ive once bought a bottle of Beaphar Cavi Vit drops, never really used it.

Not sure why they create them or what they are ment for.
