My guinea pig is a sweet and relaxed but very popcorny 6 month old girl. I introduced her to eating celery as a first vegetable to try. Since she liked it I let her have that for a few weeks since back then she was really little (about 2 months) so her tummy was very delicate and needed only little bits of veggies. I have tried letting her eat Romaine lettuce, little bits of cabbage, carrots, and green bell pepper but she still persists on only eating celery! I even tried getting her to try a little strawberry as a treat but she refused to eat it. This usually results in her sniffing the new fruit or vegetable and then pushing herself far away from it and not looking at it or getting close to it. She will eat celery, hay, and her usual pellets but won't try anything else! What should I do to get her to try new vegetables and maybe fruit? I have tried leaving it in her cage for the day in case she is shy of eating in front of me or something but she chooses still not to eat it! Somebody please help me! What should I do? ?/ I love my guinea pig soooo much and I wouldn't want her to have any kind of problems with her diet!:rosex)

Hi sounds like your little girlie is a bit fussy eh rolleyes
Keep trying, sometimes it can take months to get them to accept a new veggie or fruit.
She might enjoy some dandelion leafies, or some corn silks or the leaves :)
Try also offering her fresh grass, not too much tho as this might upset her tummy (well done for being careful before tho !)
Maybe leave her a little plate or bowl with a tiny piece of celery and then a couple of bigger bits of another veg, just try one at a time.
Has she a cage friend? often they'll copy another piggie!

Give the new food to Rue in small quantities and small pieces. Rue's pigture came up, and she is adorable!

When I walked into AplusAmazing Pets when I saw how adorable she was I instantly fell in love with her and was happy to realize she was a female! When I first took her home she didnt move an inch from where she was standing but eventually she became a LOUD PARADE at night. lol. But I don't mind her very loud parades.

That's one thing i miss.... my girls sleep downstairs so i don't hear their chatting etc.. tho i do get greeted during the night with MUMMY YAY FOOD ! :(|)

Try taking the celery, and trying to get some juice out of it, then get another veggie you want her to eat and coating it with some celery juice (or just rub the celery over it). This has worked for me to get my girls to try new veggies, but I use parsley to rub on new veggies because they love that!

After a few times of giving her the new veggie rubbed with celery, I bet she will eat it by itself.

Try something bland first maybe so the celery really can disguise it...like greens (rather than say a pepper)

It's a miracle! Once Rue decided that bell peppers were not toxic and actually tasty she wanted to try everything! I'm going to limit her to what she tries so she doesn't try everything at once but I am happy to know she is willing to eat new vegetables!
