Hello, I have an 8 week old guinea pig who had a small scab on her thigh and today i noticed it was now an open wound. It is a little smaller or the size of a pea and is red. There are no visible signs of other wounds or itchy red spots. My family called the pet store we got her from and we were told to clean it and put antibiotics on it.
She is my first guinea pig and i am quite scared so we are seeing a vet as soon as possible. Could this potentially be harmful in a way that could make her ill? Will this progress into something much larger? Please let me know. Thanks

Could you post a photo so we can see exactly what you mean?

It sounds like it could potentially be ringworm, but that usually starts around the face and mouth.

How long have you had her?

It's difficult to tell from the photo so best to get a vet opinion. Could you update your location on your profile, if you are a minor just the country would be ok as it affects any information we can give.

I did, it seems that the wound s starting to scab which is good so it is healing. We are also cleaning it so it doesn't get dirty or infected

Thank you for updating your location. That's good it is healing. Hopefully the vet will be able to help confirm whether it is Ringworm or not.

I'd keep an eye to that, it looks a bit angry to me, may be start of an infection, best see your vet
What is it? Id say a subatios syst that has poped
