Hey guys how you doing?, I just wanted to ask about a wound on royals foot - she’s still eating, running around, popcorning and etc but i’m still worried you know? it happened a couple days ago, i’m really not sure how but i’ve been cleaning it with warm water and q tips but it doesn’t seem like it’s getting any better? i’ll add photos 115931115932115933

Ouch poor Royal that looks sore! Have you taken her to a vet? You say you have been cleaning it with water which is good but she really needs to see a vet before any infection sets in.

also to add I have been cleaning it with a sea salt solution and I also attempted to wrap it up which didn’t end well

have booked a vets appointment for first thing on thursday morning but i’m still really worried and thursday seems so long away

Saline (sea salt solution) is good. Pleased you have booked a vets appointment. Just try and keep it as clean as you can. As you have already discovered, wrapping a guinea pigs foot is virtually impossible. Change pee pads often. Is she walking on it OK or limping a bit?

yes it’s very very impossible 😆😆 and yeah she’s been walking fine and acting normal but I’m really worried because it hasn’t healed

I have made socks before for my old boar who had urine scald. And it worked, well they stayed on atleast. I cant remember the name of the stuff but its like an adhesive bandage stuff in the cat section from pets at home. Its bright yellow or blue.

Just have to be really careful not to do them too tight. As you would know already anyway

It looks as though she may have caught her nail on something and pulled it without actually managing to pull it off. I agree with irrigating it with sterile saline, making sure the bedding is clean, and letting the vet have a look. Foot and nail injuries can bleed a lot, so try not to panic!
