I'm going to be rabbit-sitting for a friend when she is on vacation. I know it's possible for respiratory illnesses to spread to guinea pigs, but I'm not sure how close they need to be for this to potentially take place. Can they be kept on the same level of the house, different rooms, not sharing free-roaming space? That would probably be the easiest place to keep the rabbit for the week. Thanks in advance!

I honestly don't know the answer to this one. My thoughts would be separate rooms would be best and make sure you wash hands between touching each species etc...

I'm sure @BossHogg has both in his shed so hopefully he'd be able to reassure you.

That's great, thanks so much for the info! I will definitely practice good handwashing and not let them interact, but it's reassuring to know that others have them on the same floor or same shed without issues.

Mine interact, they're forever raiding each others hutches and pinching food. :))

My house rabbit has her base in the dining room with our four piggies and piggies enjoy floor time when she’s around! :)
