Our stairs lead off from our kitchen and it is the same ish temperature on the stairs as it is in the outhouse (where the piggy's live) when the door is closed in the winter. My idea is that during the winter, I can cuddle them on the stairs so that they're not being brought in to the warm living room and then being taken back in to the outhouse. Anyway, we have 3 bigger steps at the bottom of the stairs as they bend around the corner and I have been putting the girls pet blanket on one of the steps and letting them sit on it. It has worked well so far as they seem to enjoy just sitting and laying there watching while I clean the kitchen etc. The only problem is that Eliza has discovered how to climb the stairs :o She only goes up 1 or 2 steps before she comes back down but I am just wondering if it is safe and also does it sound like a good idea when the colder months are here?

My piggies do this, especially Max, he loves going up and down them He does the whole stair case in a mission to find Scruffy, spueeking his little lungs out!

i think its a good idea considering the changing temperature - but when i had outdoor piggies years and years ago i used to bring them in the warm and take them back to their hutch after. They lived perfectly fine lives! its up to you though, but i would say its not bad thinking!

Last year we turned the radiator off in the kitchen so it was the coolest room in the house so the girls could still have floor time in there. The only problem was that because the floor is tiled, it was difficult to have cuddle time as well.

yes an tiled flooring can get a little cold on their ickle paws! lol! i think your idea is really good, and they can have a little play around too. I let mine round around in the hallway and up the stairs, i always make sure I'm there tho watching near the stairs, but they are usually fine with it! it gives them a little play around!

mine are often in the space near the out house running as i put the pen there sometimes...however if the floor is too cold i wouldn't put them on there...but your kitchen sounds ok...ours go in the kitchen although that is laminate...we do put an old rug or towel down on the floor.

they sound like spoilt piggies Claire! lol

we just cant help it though can we?!? hehe

They have a plastic cat bed that I put there pets blankets in so they can sit in there as well :)

that sounds really comfy...i bet they love being in there...we have a large dog basket in the kitchen where our dog sleeps when we are out...when we let the guinea pigs run in there we find them snuggled in this huge basket lol
