I read Guinea pigs watch tv and listen.

We upgraded to a 85” in the living room so I had this as a spare i decided to Mount in my bedroom. Before this I had just them and I in it, no electrics. I Spend most time in living room but I like leaving this on at night for comfort.

I keep the volume low 1/2 the time. Other half I just use my earbuds do they cannot hear a thing.3F37DCF3-785F-47AC-937E-E1C8F9BB9952.webp

It seemed to throw them off at first but bare in mind it’s because just got done I stalling it above their cage. Now they go about their business.

I think the squeaks would drive me mad if my piggys were in my bedroom!

Firstly, can I just say... WOW, that is a huge enclosure and your piggies are very fortunate with all the space you've provided them.

I would say that there are two sides to this in that while piggies might enjoy watching TV and happy, settled piggies might not be bothered by the sound, some sensitive piggies could be bothered by the flashing lights and the sound. It's not even just the sound of the TV but the constant buzzing you get from electrical appliances. My piggies, Dexter and Rory used to love when my friend and I watched The Walking Dead and would make their way to their dinner loft to eat and stare towards the TV so it appeared that they enjoyed it and were never bothered by the noises.

TVs attract dust and this is over the piggies so could cause respiratory problems.
If you keep the TV on all night then the piggies would have the constant flickering lights, buzz from the TV and also the heat generated from the TV too.
I personally don't think it's a good idea for you or your piggies. TV being on can disrupt your circadian rhythm and reduce your sleep quality as well as being bad for your eyes.

I would worry that over time, this set up with the TV where it is would cause stress and could lead to health issues and even bickering between the piggies if they are stressed. If the power is constantly on even if the TV is turned off then there is a constant buzz and animals are more sensitive to this than we are.

These are just my thoughts and it's something that would bother me. Your C&C is superb though and I wish I had space for something that big :luv:

I did it with Comet and Blitzen. Blitzen used to angry rumble at a couple of specific noises (like jangling keys, but I don't remember what the tv based noises were) but otherwise they were good with it. Treated it as "other noise" like if I had visitors over or something, generally unfazed.

Awe I was thinking Since my herd is all sows they might like seeing some of my favorite YouTube piggy channels. And may appreciate seeing the YouTubers who have all those handsome boars :( I am used to sleeping in total darkness but the news or Spotify on a low level did relax me the past week or so since it’s been up! Thanks for sharing those thoughts too
