Hello, i have two female guinea pigs. I will be going to another country for vacation soon for 2 weeks. I have no idea on what to do with my guinea pigs. I have asked family whom i trust to watch over them but they are all also going to another country for vacation. Many of you guys are going to reply saying why i got a guinea pig in the first place. But before you say that, i got them knowing that i will not be traveling as i go with family and my family wasn't able to travel due to caring for my disabled grandmother. Sadly, she passed away. Now we are Able to travel so we are leaving for 2 weeks. What do i do!?

Try look for small animal boarding. I'm not sure if it's really available where you are but in the UK we have kennels for dogs, catteries for cats and boardings for all manner of small animals. It might be worthwhile asking local vets if they know of anyone who would offer boarding or pet sitting services

That won't be possible as its 6 hours away and we already bought plane tickets

Please ready @Lady Kelly reply.
She has suggested that you contact your local vet and ask if they know of someone who can care for your guinea pigs while you are away.

If you let us know where you live (roughly) we may be able to give more specific advice.

Some guinea pig rescues will also take in holiday pigs - would that be an option?

What won't be possible? I have suggested looking for small animal boarding and contacting local vets to see if they know of any near you. I don't understand what you mean by it not being possible to even ask questions to try and find a solution

Sorry to be harsh but you have a duty to provide for these piggies so the options are to find small holiday boarding, ask a friend to board them, ask the vets if they or anyone they know does home visits or boarding, ask a local rescue if they will board them or alternatively surrender them to a shelter as one thing is sure, you can’t leave them alone for 2 weeks so a solution must be found.

Sorry about your grandmother. As suggested, enquire at any local vets to see if they know of anyone who looks after pets or offers a boarding service.
Ask a friend / neighbour who is close by so thats its not an issue for them to come in and feed them and clean them out for you.

Not sure where you live but I suspect USA with you saying Vacation?

It is hard when you go away but it is very important you have something in place for this situation so you can go away and ensure your piggies are well cared for.

Good luck!

Sounds like you might be in the USA like me. We are going away a fair bit in the next year. I’ve organised a small pet care business to come in once a day ($25 per visit). I’ve met the person who will be coming and Ann confident they’ll be ok. I also found someone who could look after them at their place but to be honest the thought of moving them and all their stuff was too much, and didn’t want to unsettle the pigs. They also don’t have a roof on their cage and I was worried that she might also board cats that could get in.

We also have a house/pet sitter coming for a week. Please consider this option if the daily cost of a service is too much for you.

I found all these options on google and Yelp and I’m sure a local vet or someone could also help you.

They definitely can’t survive on their own for two weeks. Even a high school student or someone near you could come and tend to them, even if they don’t handle them?

Lots of options.

Maybe you could ask a family member to come to your house and feed, water, and give them treats. Thats what I'm doing with my pigs, although its only for 5 days. My boys are staying at our house while we go on vacay and a family member will come every morning and afternoon to fill hay rack, feed them and give them water. I am leaving them plenty of toys and chews in their cage. We are leaving tonight. If a family member is unwilling, you could always ask your local experianced small animal or exotic vet if they can board them. Also sorry about your grandmother.

Do you have neighbors whom you can trust to come and watch over your piggies? Sorry to hear about passing of your grandmother.
My mom watched over my piggies while I was on vacation in Europe last year. I am in the USA.
I also have many good neighborhood kids who can come to feed and give water to my piggies. Some of my neighborhood kids have piggies on their own so they know how to care for piggies.
However, I would definitely ask either my mom or my sister first.

Do you have a friend who can either come in and check them and give them food an water daily while you're away, or a friend who will let you move their cage/living space into their house while you are gone? If not, does your vet do boarding for small animals or can they recommend someone who does? Some pet stores in my area (Pet Valu) will board animals... I've gone in to buy things and seen them boarding guinea pigs before. I asked if they were for adoption, but they were on vacation! ;) You could also look for animal sitting services online... there are companies that will send someone to feed/check on your pets while you are gone and even can handle special needs. My friend used to have to hire someone for her diabetic cat, as someone experienced needed to administer his insulin daily, so she went with a pet housesitting service.
