My wife and i have two guinea pigs now. We started with one and a month after bought a second one, both male. They have been getting along great! and we love those little guys.

We were haveing a conversation the other night, after i built the new cage to get another piggy! the cage is huge and we can have more than two.

My question is, would it be a problem having three males in the same cage? We definitely do not want a female because we dont want to breed them etc...

I've seen this question asked a lot, and I have 3 boars, so I'm very interested in this subject. The general consensus is that 90% of boar trios fail. I knew there was a risk when I got my three, as the original intention was to bond one with a single foster boar I had (epic fail). So far I've been quite lucky and they all get on with minimal bickering, but they're still very young, so I have them in a 5x3 with a load of grids on standby awaiting the (almost) inevitable (then I'll build upwards, get whoever has to move neutered, and get a wifey for him.....I'm almost looking forward to it) lol.

I keep reading mix reviews online. Some people say that it works out great having a group of males and some say that its very difficult to keep just males

If you want another piggie have you thought about a spayed sow? Are there any rescues near you in New York? Just a thought!

Spayed sows are as rare as hens teeth though aren't they? I'm also not sure if the 2 boys would fight over her.

@Guanchy it is difficult to expand in the same cage as you have boys (that's why I got girls as my first 2!)

Would you be able to have another cage if you wanted more piggies?

Having another cage is not an option so i think I'm just going to stay with my two boys.
