Mash has not been acting properly recently. For the past while he has not been eating, but now he has started biting me. Some parts of my fingers are now bleeding. What's going on? Mash used to be the friendliest piggy ever, and I am really upset he is changing. I have a vet appointment booked for the eating problem but I dont know what to do about biting.

(Little more info- Mash is almost 4, he's a teddy. Loves lap time, normally. Is not eating properly, Last year his cage mate died)

Thank you so much for your attention! xx

Good job that you have a vet appointment booked as his biting could be due to to him being unwell. Piggies aren’t usually biters unless there’s something wrong
Yea i agree with this. My sow dot is an exception though, she loves biting but doesnt sink teeth in atall. Your boy sounds like hes in pain or discomfort somehow

Good that you have booked him in. The biting is likely related to the health problem that is also causing the loss of appetite.

Please follow the tips in these guides here. As soon as you notice loss in weight or appetite you need to see a vet and step in with syringe feeding support in order to keep the guts going. Keep in mind that over 80% of the daily food intake is hay, which you cannot judge by watching your piggy chewing on crud. Without enough food intake, the guts will start to slow down and then close down altogether.
