It is possible for a piggy to catch a cold from their mum? I am absolutely loaded at the moment @) and I have noticed one of my piggies (unsure which) is sneezing his head off :^-.

I have heard that piggies can catch colds from their owner but I don't know how much truth there is in this

There was a similar thread not long ago and If I remember rightly they can catch bacterial Infections but the common cold is exclusively a human virus

They can catch some colds, it depends what the cold is caused by, so its best to stay away from your piggies when your ill. When a guinea pig gets a 'cold' its usually very serious and if you've noticed your piggie sneezing I'd take them straight off to the vets,

I was also told that pigs can catch colds from humans.will ask at work and see

I was told that piggies cannot catch human colds - again only bacterical respiratory infections.

Thanks for your useful advise as I have now have a chest infection and pleurisy I am avoiding picking them up which is so hard:( and Sparky in particular is finding it hard poor lad.

I worked out that it was Tommy sneezing, Tommy is prone to sneezing fits so I am keeping a close eye on him but he's eating well.

Sorry to hear that you're not well and hope you're feeling better soon :)
