Guinea pigs chewing at bath mats

I recently changed from fleece to bobble bath matts and incontinence pads and mine are constantly pulling at the noodle bits on them and have chewed the incontience pads underneath! They even have chewed at some of the bottom of the matt (doesnt have plastic backing) I understand this is normal for guinea pigs but does this mean I should ideally go back to fleece liners?

I would go back to fleece liners if they won't stop eating the bobbles they can't be good for them. One of mine (Timmy) used to chew the bobbles off the mats so I stopped using them for a few months. When I tried them again he was okay and seemed to have lost interest.

I use the bobble mats up side down. I don't know if that would help.
