My two piggies Kylo and Chewy have always surprised me with their willingness to jump on top of things I'm sure they won't do. Kylo's speciality is jumping on top of their cat style transport box and Chewy as you can see loves to sit in top of his igloo.

They'd never showed any interest in the open spacs on the roof of their cage.. until today. When I feed them, they usually poke their head up above the bars but this morning, Chewy literally scaled the bars. I had no idea they could climb upwards on a vertical. Safe to say additional C&C grids have been attached to completely enclose their house!

While they aren’t natural climbers, they can certainly climb if they want to!
It’s the reason we say that an as yet unneutered or newly neutered but not yet infertile boar who lives in the same room as sows prior to bonding as a herd for example, should be kept in a secure and ideally lidded cage!

My Minx certainly liked the 'high life' and loved to sleep on top of her hut. So much so that my hub had to build another one so her companion could be promoted to have her own hut to sleep on top. In the end, we put a platform over a section of the cage.

Minx was also a stair jumper. She discovered it 10 days before surprising me with two pet shop babies when she mysteriously disappeared and some food calling finally got an answer from upstairs. I knew exactly the day she considered her babies weaned; it was the day she took to the stairs again. I had to block access to upstairs during roaming time except as a special treat. She would only do it once while I was present; otherwise I had to listen for her 13 hops up the stairs and then after a suitable time come and collect her waiting at the top of the stairs for collection.
But try to explain that to an asking gasman with a straight face!

My Chez escaped a foot and a half container during cage cleaning once! I had also been told they don't jump. Luckily I saw him on the chair before he got hurt. So glad I got a cage with lid and now I put the lid of the container on when I clean the cage!

LOL! Misa can get 4 feet off the ground hanging off the cage bars when she REALLY wants a snack. And she's a chunky monkey, I'm shocked her little toes can hold her!
