Guinea-Pigs Holiday Care

I'm going away in July and I'm worried about Barry and Roy. I am going away for 2 weeks and my neighbour normally looks after my pets, but as its 2 weeks they will need cleaning out but I feel like its too much to ask my neighbour to clean out 3 hutches. I was going to get a large litter tray to fill up the sleeping part of the girls hutch, and put the bedding in there so that to clean it out all my neighbour would have to do is take the litter tray to the bin and empty it before putting clean bedding in, but I don't know what to do about Barry and Roy. I don't want to trouble anyone but they need cleaning out and I just don't know what to do. Boarding places can be quite expensive and my Mum won't really want to take me to drop the guinea-pigs off somewhere else and unless they were easily got to by bus and train I couldn't get there myself)

Roy and Barry have vetbed as a bedding and I could change them to woodshavings but it would still be quite difficult to clean. Sorry, I don't really know why I made this thread, I'm just a bit confused and not sure what to do. I would rather stay with my guinea-pigs than go on holiday :))
The girls will be easy to clean but I can't really do the litter tray thing with my boys hutches. What do you do with your guinea-pigs when you go on holiday?
 
my pigs always went to a friends house, a pet mad friend, so it wasnt an issue for us. now, if we cant find a pet sitter who will do it all, and we do let them know what needs doing before they say yes or no, then we simply dont go.

sorry I'm not more help. maybe you could offer a bit of money, say its to cover the expenses of veggies etc, and the need to get their hands dirty and clean them out.
 
Sorry this is of no help to you but we always went abroad until we committed to having the piggies. We own a caravan about an hours drive away and spend a lot of weekends there and will be taking them with us :(|)
I could not spend a night away from my little crew.
 
Not sure where in Surrey you are, but I board, and if you're not too far may be able to make an exception and come and get them if it makes things easier.

I do have normal rates but I do discounts for forum members. PM me or email me on [email protected] if you are interested, if you just want me to have the boys that's fine or I could work out a cheap rate for all of them. I don't mind what bedding my guests have, most have shavings or shredded newspaper but anything goes!
 
I'm in Haslemere, where abouts are you? I can't wait until I can drive then I would take them to a boarding place and it wouldn't be a problem :))

I'm in Coulsdon, top of the M23, so about an hour away - have to check with the OH re picking up as my car is not the best on motorways, though hope to have my new one by then! Do you think your mum would take them halfway?

It would depend on the dates too as we are getting a wee bit busy - DON'T tell me when you are away publically in case burglars see it, PM me ;)
